Mohawk Industries Inc. v. Shirley Williams

The Mohawk case is a suit against a Georgia carpet manufacturer by American employees who argue that the manufacturer is depressing the wages of legal employees by conspiring with recruiters to hire illegal aliens.

The American Unity Legal Defense Fund joined in an amicus brief which urged the Supreme Court to protect the rights of American workers who are faced with displacement by illegal alien workers.

The Supreme Court ultimately sent the case back to the federal appeals court for a trial to determine whether the hiring fraud was, in fact, the cause of the workers' decline in wages. Although a final decision was not made in the case, the Supreme Court recognized that employers can be held liable for illegal hiring.
